about the match

Five minutes before the match was supposed to start, Battle_SoLD got booted, constantly. So Battle_SoLD and Saint=SoLD, who had to invite him to the table, almost arrived too late. Battle_SoLD was booted once more during the match, but Mage_Blade, who hosted the game, got him back in after a minute. When Saint and Battle arrived, Abakus had already been yanked to blue to destroy the third shrine, and back to the Balance shrine area. After one minute of the game, SF broke into SoLD's shrine and SoLD invaded SF. But SoLD could kick SF out of there after some time, and after that the SoLD defense worked very well.

The SoLD offense team spent the next 50 minutes of the game in SF's shrine and got it down to 5 seconds to go for more than 10 times. However, their 8 clerics (7 after SF_sparrow got booted) managed to bring the shrine up quite quickly again and again, giving us lots and lots of heart attacks. Afraid of SoLD winning the match during the last minute (last minute rule), SF started a last counterattack in minute 58 and both shrines went up and down constanly.

With 6 seconds to go, SoLD managed to get the own shrine up for a last time. In the end it was a lucky win for SoLD and a bitter loss for SF, although the other 54 minutes of the game showed that SoLD deserved it.

This was the MOST tense guild match, ever. I swear I will dream of this haunting 55 minutes the next nights.

Mage_Mors joined Mage_Blade in watching this battle and we saw them laughing from time to time, I'm sure the two of them have had a lot of fun :p

SoLD pulled victory out thanks to the 1 minute rule. The game lasted for an hour, and most of it inside our very shrine. Battle_SoLD was booted some time during the game. SF_Sparrow had to leave early due to work constraints.

The beginning of the match started out badly for us. Some of our offense didn't get outside of the shrine quickly enough and were walled inside with our defenders. It was our folly in trying to let them out. Waiting right outside was SoLD's attacking team, and they rushed in as soon as they dispelled our walls.

The first few minutes of the match was a blur. SoLD's offense consisted of Saint, a level 15 cleric who doesn't go down easy. Another 15 cleric who, unfortunately for us, had dispell 3. MoiKai and Gap came with them, 2 minding ments who got quite annoying throughout the match.

Our shrine went down quick, but luckily, Jas managed to slip into their shrine and take it down a couple notches. Soon after the initial offense, attackers from both guilds were killed off.

Our defense became disorganized then and SoLD managed to break through again. This quickly became the pace of the entire match. SoLD busting through into our shrine and taking it down, while we desperately try to raise it and kill them at the same time.

And they kept coming. As soon as we would kill one, that SoLD member would be back and on their way back to our shrine. So as soon as we could kill the last attacker. The first ones we killed were back in before we could put our defensive walls back up.

We could barely mount an offense at the beginning, and it seemed impossible to start one now that we had SoLD members running into our shrine at their leisure.

Soon we were doing nothing but desperately keeping our shrine up, as their clerics had an uncanny ability to take down the shrine within two hits.

I did the best I could, paralyzing the offense and giving our members a chance to kill the SoLD ments. SF_Phil got in a few good kills on the ments, and even some of their cleric fell to his bolts. Not bad for a level 8 mag.

RomBurns minded anybody who went into the shrine, but there were so many that he could not keep up his offense before being attacked by their own ments.

Xeeron, Musi, Sly, Realist, Sithie, Jas, and I (Chrome) were soon reduced to defense as SoLD's unrelenting offense gave us cause to panic. I died once and tapped, thinking to try and slip into SoLD's shrine as it seemed that they had all set up house in ours.

Musi and I soon found that Kat's Earth, Aba's stones and Styx's Ice Walls would not fall so easily, and so we fell back to helping our defense keep our shrine alive. It was a shrine-fest. SoLD got within 3 seconds of winning one time and that almost gave me a heart attack.

Nearing the final minutes, SoLD sent everybody but Aba and Styx to raid our shrine. Kats started earthwalling our shrine with Saint inside, so that we could not get to him, nor could we assist our own clerics who were trapped inside the shrine, attempting to keep SoLD from victory.

Hades was quite annoying with his cold balls, but we could not stop to kill him as the countdown kept repeating itself. During the final minute, some of our team managed to mount and offense on SoLD's shrine. They managed to take green shrine down several times.

Even as our offense battled with SoLD, our own defense struggled. It all boiled down to the last six seconds of the match. I was sitting in SF shrine and watched in horror as green shrine came back to full strength. Thus the match ended with a victory to SoLD.

Crestfallen, the SF members were disappointed as this was a much more painful match than they had anticipated. To lose within the final minute was torture in itself.

Well played match SoLD, we look forward to our rematch, where results shall be much different from today's match.
